I am passionate about working with clients and learning how to best navigate your struggles as a team. If you are a professional struggling with anxiety, navigating college or entering the working world, starting or ending a new relationship, struggling with emotional regulation regarding depression, or having a hard time with disordered eating and body image, it is my goal to help you reaffirm your strengths and identify new skills to reach your goals. I aim to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment where we can reflect on your past experiences, your successes, and discuss growth. I offer a collaborative approach and can support you using various therapy tools, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical- Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. I am also trained in Exposure and Response Prevention, which can help with OCD. We all have the strengths to navigate the messy moments in life, but adjusting can be hard at times. My hope in creating a non-judgmental environment is to provide a safe place for you to work through your thoughts and emotions in an unfiltered way. The first step is hard and I hope to be a part of your growth in any way I can!

You are important and your thoughts and feelings matter! Therapy is your time to take care of yourself. It is the opportunity to explore, problem solve and sort out your thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive way. With over 25 years of clinical experience, I have successfully worked with clients of all ages and struggles. I partner with you to help you identify and understand your patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are contributing to your emotions and struggles such as depression, anxiety, frustration, and feeling overwhelmed and/or stuck. We then explore, analyze, and select solutions that work best for you. My therapy approach is based primarily in cognitive behavioral therapy with a solution focused perspective. I partner with you to help you gain an understanding of the reasons why you are struggling and develop an action plan to help you overcome and achieve your goals and potential. Therapy is an active and engaging process. I provide a supportive and accepting environment for you to express yourself fully. Has something terrible happened recently, like an assault, an accident, or a sudden loss? Is being away from home bringing up things from the past that you thought were behind you? Are you struggling to focus, keep up with assignments, or sleep through the night without nightmares? Maybe it feels hard just to leave your dorm or show up at all. Being in college can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re carrying the weight of something painful. I specialize in trauma therapy for college students who are ready for support but don’t want to spend every session rehashing what happened. We’ll use tools that help your mind and body feel calmer, even when it’s hard to talk about it. The kind of therapy I offer helps rewire the brain, which can change how your trauma affects you, how you feel about yourself, and how you experience the world around you. I’m an inclusive therapist who welcomes students of all identities and backgrounds. You’ll be met as you are, without judgment. If any of this sounds familiar, reach out for a free consultation. We’ll talk through what you’re looking for and see if it feels like a good fit.

Whether you are living in physical pain or emotional pain, we will work together to help you sleep better, decrease pain, improve relationships, get "unstuck" and feel happier. One of our greatest goals as clinicians is treating you with the support and care you deserve. We not only want to help you feel better, we want to help you live better and move out of negative patterns of behavior that do not serve you. We work from an integrative perspective, meaning that we have been trained in a wide variety of psychological techniques and will combine them to help you achieve your goals. We will teach you to use the tools that help you most, so that you can continue to work with these techniques on your own, once you have completed therapy. And that sense of independence and control you gain over your own life, that will feel truly fulfilling!

When we are facing life stressors, we often focus on addressing the immediate symptoms. This can be very adaptive. However, if we only ever focus on the immediate symptoms of our struggles, then we may never recognize or have the possibility of healing the cause of our pain. I believe that therapy provides a powerful space to explore, understand, and ultimately heal the root causes of our struggles. I approach my work with insight from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, including Narrative Therapy, IFS, Solution Focused Therapy, & Attachment Theory. I am also formally trained in EMDR which I can incorporate into therapy. I approach therapy with an anti-oppressive lens to assist clients dealing with the impacts of homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, and misogyny and am versed in supporting individuals with a wide range of challenges, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Bipolar, and chronic pain. I come to my work not merely as an outsider with expertise, but as a neurodivergent and transgender individual myself who has lived experience navigating many of the issues I work to help others heal from. It has been my privilege to help a wide variety of clients, and I look forward to learning how I can help you too!

I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and hold credentials as both a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). I have been in the field a little over 10 years and have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns; including depression, anxiety, identity formation, crisis management, addiction, and life transitions. My counseling style is very person-first and engaging. I believe in incorporating different therapeutic techniques in order to meet you exactly where you are during each interaction. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused techniques. My goal is to have you feel comfortable and help guide you to develop healthy skills that encourage empowerment and self-discovery. Outside of my career, I am an animal lover that enjoys traveling. I enjoy being physically active and believe the best gifts are those you can experience! I am a fan of all Italian food and find comfort relaxing while watching a good movie or reading a thrilling book. I strongly advocate the concept of self-care and overall life balance. I understand how vulnerable and overwhelming it can feel to seek counseling and I appreciate the courage my clients display by doing so. I hope to support and provide encouragement as we begin this process together. I believe that every individual has the ability to overcome struggles and learn how to highlight their strengths that they may not even be aware they have! I look forward to working with you! Hi! I help clients cultivate awareness, insight, and self-compassion so that they can know themselves in a deeper way and live more authentically. I'm level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), which means I can help you get to know and heal the parts of you who feel stressed, anxious, burnt out, or depressed. We do this in a gentle, trauma-informed way. My practice is also informed by studies in psychodynamic theory, self-compassion, mindfulness, creative arts, and Buddhist psychology. No matter what approach you feel most comfortable exploring, I believe that safety, consent, and the therapeutic relationship are the foundation for healing.

I want you to know this therapy will acknowledge the very real challenges you face that are NOT just in your head. If you've been left out, excluded, and the people around you don't understand, you have every right to be angry, hurt and lonely. Do the people in your life expect you to conform or “fix your problem” and make you feel like a burden for having needs? Have you started to believe the negative messages; started believe you're lazy, not good enough or a burden? I offer support for folks who are going through it. You deserve full access to therapy, please don't hesitate to let me know how I can best support. For example: lying down during session to ease fatigue, video forms instead of words on paper. If you're not sure what you need, we can explore this together and find out what works best for you. You can email me at Schedule@BodyMindAllianceCC.com or you can reach me by phone at 215-259-8016. Note: Your gender identity, pronouns and sexual/affectional orientation will be respected and honored without making therapy “all about your identity” unless that is what you want or need. (Image alt text: Photograph of Kasryn Kapp seated wearing a blue jumpsuit smiling) Please don't hesitate to reach out with any accessibility needs. I offer online therapy with Closed Captions (you can turn this feature off or on)
