Starting therapy and realizing you may not be able to do this alone can be a scary and intimidating process. It is my hope as a therapist to make that process a little easier for you. If you have been feeling lost, stuck, anxious, or stressed about life’s trials Finding Your Better can help. At Finding Your Better I specialize in working with millennials struggling with anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment as we collaborate to define what your better looks like and create a plan to get there.

You may be seeking therapy to help remove or change issues which are causing you discomfort. In addition to therapy helping you cope and reduce your distress, the process of self-discovery within the therapeutic relationship can lead to an increased understanding and acceptance of yourself. It can also lead to an expansion of comfort with all aspects of yourself. I am a clinical psychologist with 30 years’ experience working with adults, young adults, and couples in a variety of settings including private practice, hospitals, and outpatient medical clinics. I have provided therapy to patients in primary care clinics (e.g., neurology, cardiology, ob/gyn, and oncology). I work with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substances, trauma, medical concerns, or relationship difficulties. My approach is strength-based and grounded in the belief that all people are using their best skills to address the demands and challenges in their lives. I focus on being curious and nonjudgmental as I explore areas of an individual’s current functioning, those which are effective in addressing daily challenges as well as those which can interfere with effective functioning. I am also certified in EMDR which I tailor to the individual needs of my clients. Your life experiences have influenced your emotional beliefs and decisions. You use these thoughts, emotions, and deep beliefs as you interact with others and with your world. You may respond to situations in your life in ways which seem, on the surface, to be confusing or make no sense. Addressing this confusion and discomfort is an act of courage. Throughout the therapy process, we will examine these areas. My experience has been that this exploration will lead you to develop increased self-compassion, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. From this place of mindfulness, new choices and decisions emerge which will allow you to experience greater fulfillment in your life. It is a privilege for me to join clients in their exploration of themselves and their world. I look forward to working with you to investigate and discover all of who you are.

Noushine Navabi
I am a LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and strive to provide a safe and compassionate environment for my clients. I am committed to helping clients connect with the best version of themselves by focusing on gaining deeper insight and acceptance in the face of adversity. I believe in taking a holistic approach when it comes to mental health. I have been trained in EMDR, which can be used to target a wide range of issues. I believe the past is present, which is why I focus on addressing the root issue since unhealthy behaviors/beliefs are often developed as a method of coping with something too painful or overwhelming. Additionally I love incorporating mindfulness and somatic psychotherapy to help clients attain greater mind and body congruence. The nervous system doesn't use words, so that means you simply can't "talk" your way out of certain emotions or core beliefs. That's where both of those modalities can help bridge the gap between the thinking brain and the feeling brain. Outside of private practice, I have worked as a clinician in crisis stabilization, residential treatment for survivors of sex trafficking, and an outpatient substance abuse treatment facility. You don't need to hurt alone. We can't undo the past, but we can work towards healing so you can start being present for the people and things you love most in life.

In my clinical work, I thoroughly enjoy getting to know clients and their families. The most important aspect is to provide a safe and comfortable environment so clients can form a trusting, open, honest relationship in order to facilitate change. On my end, that requires relatability as well as sincerity to meet the client where they are as well as embracing their individualized experiences. The overarching goal is to get each client to overcome personal obstacles, reach their full potential, strengthen or improve their relationship with family members, and learn appropriate skills to help them succeed in the everyday world. As all people have unique strengths and interests, treatment plans are individualized to ensure that they match the person's needs. Whether that is lessening the burden of anxious thoughts, learning how to get oneself out of a depressed mood state, teaching skills to help calm down when agitated, or discussing social interactions to feel more comfortable, each individual requires their own road map. I enjoy applying a person-centered, strength-based approach as well as weaving in cognitive-behavioral techniques. Counselling sessions are goal-driven; however, goals are developed in a cooperative manner, including the client, myself, and (when appropriate), other family members

Perhaps you have had some experience in therapy or this is your first time - maybe you feel you’ve tried everything and still no relief. No matter where you are in your mental health journey, I hope to provide you with your own unique treatment experience. I am a licensed clinical psychologist based out of Evolve Counseling and Wellness and I specialize in helping people to get relief from OCD, anxiety, phobias, negative body image, disordered eating, and trauma. I tailor interventions to help you to get unstuck, get in touch with your resilient self, and be able to live the life you want to live. I also incorporate context, choice, collaboration, and connection in the therapy space. I believe your trust must be earned, and I work to build a supportive, warm, and transparent environment that promotes growth, autonomy, and exploration. What would it look for you to live a life that more closely aligns with your values and potential? Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck as we repeat the same self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. We try to cope with the stresses of life, but our coping mechanisms just don't seem to work anymore. Let's face it: life can be really hard at times. But with the help of others, we can take steps towards becoming the people we were created to be. As a therapist, I create a warm environment to help you achieve your goals. I work with adults and adolescents who struggle with addiction, depression, and anxiety, as well as those who are simply adjusting to challenging life circumstances and events (i.e., a global pandemic, the loss of a loved one, moving to a new city). In all of these cases, I believe that change and healing take place in the context of relationships with other people, and I would consider it a privilege to cultivate a therapeutic relationship with you as you take steps towards living into your values and potential.
Informed Therapy Group
In our sessions, I'm learning about you and working as a guide to help you to make connections between your unique experiences and make sense of what you're experiencing. I use a Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) modality, in which we focus on patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they impact each other. I also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help clients feel more in control of their emotions and their lives in general. Each session is tailored to the individual, as every person has different needs. We will work together to figure out what is most important to you and the best way for you to create the life you want.
