The Unencumbered Appetite
I help folks with Eating Disorders and other people who want to find a positive and peaceful relationship with food, who are ready for an alternative to prescriptive diets and fads, and looking for a more sustainable solution to their eating woes: whether that physical symptoms, dysfunctional eating, negative body image, or food preoccupation. I use utilize the principles of Intuitive Eating and operate from a weight-neutral lens, meaning focus on behaviors and measurable health outcomes (both physical and psychological) vs. a weight-centric approach and over-reliance on BMI (a wildly inappropriate tool for individual assessment). Evidence-based nutrition counseling services from a license professional are offered via Telehealth or in person at my Decatur office, to folks living in Georgia who want a whole-person and collaborative approach to wellness.

I tend to work best with students who feel a lot on the inside, even if they don’t always show it on the outside. Many of the students I support describe themselves as deep feelers, caregivers, or high-achievers. They might look like they “have it together” but often carry stress, worry, or self-doubt that no one else sees. Some of my clients are navigating big life transitions such as, living away from home for the first time, managing demanding academic expectations, or figuring out who they are and what they want in relationships, career, or spirituality. Others come in because they feel weighed down by past experiences of trauma, anxiety, or addiction and want a safe space to work through it. What my clients share is a desire for relief, clarity, and a more grounded sense of self. They want a space where they don’t have to perform, fix, or achieve—just a place to be real and supported. In sessions with me, you’ll find a calm, supportive space to slow down and be yourself, no pressure to have it all figured out. We’ll explore what’s weighing on you, whether it’s stress, anxiety, past experiences, or big life transitions. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, hopeful, and connected to yourself so you can move through school and life with more ease.

We are Living Fully Psychological Services, but affectionately call ourselves Living Fully Therapy. Dr. Pegah Moghaddam is the owner and founder of Living Fully. We provide therapy online and in-person at an office located in Atlanta, Georgia, within walking distance of Emory University. Our psychologists and therapists specialize in therapy for trauma, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, eating disorders, and sleep. With life experience comes pain, loss, and suffering. Healing, growth, and change are a result of processing these painful experiences in a non-judgmental and compassionate way. At Living Fully Therapy, we provide unique therapeutic services. Our goal is to learn about and understand your unique history and life path with openness, compassion, acceptance, and patience. We will teach you to do the same for yourself, as these factors are necessary to the process of change and ultimately to live fully. From there, we will determine where you'd like to go and the most effective process to achieving your goals. We are honored to facilitate your journey toward living fully. Please note that we are an out-of-network, non-preferred provider with Aetna student health insurance for Emory students. If you are enrolled in the Emory University Student Health Insurance Plan (EUSHIP), you will need a referral from Emory Student Health Services to Living Fully before starting sessions. You will need one referral per academic year (which begins each August 1). The 2023-2024 EUSHIP has a $750 deductible for non-preferred providers, which you will typically meet within your first 5-6 sessions at Living Fully. Atlanta Trauma Therapy & Consulting
Trauma and pain from past and present experiences can stop you in your tracks, leaving you stuck in the same patterns, of thinking, feeling and behaving that eventually lead to building a life of obligation, duty and fear rather than one of fulfillment, meaning and connection. But with a little help, you can pause, learn tools, gain insights and figure out where and how you need to change direction. You are not responsible for everything that has happened to you AND you are responsible for making meaning from the life you are living. How you do this depends on whom you believe yourself to be. Our work will help you to heal YOU. I understand the connection between empowerment and recovery and believe our choices can change our lives. My work includes: trauma survivors, PTSD, depression, anxiety, serious mental illness, substance use and general/social stressors. My clients include : therapists, all genders, LGBTQ, veterans, African Americans, and diverse races/ethnicities. I have nearly 10 years of practice experience, using multiple approaches to help move you from where you are to where you would like to be. I look forward to our work together.

I am passionate about walking alongside young adults and college students navigating challenges related to anxiety, emotional regulation, effects of trauma, life transitions, and relationship concerns. I also have expertise in supporting women in the pre- and postpartum period. I am dedicated to creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship in which clients feel comfortable to be their most true selves, explore their values and strengths, and connect with their inherent worth. I use a trauma-informed, relational approach to therapy that combines a thoughtful blend of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness practices to help clients connect with the present moment. I bring a warm, grounding, and compassionate energy to therapy, offering a space that is nonjudgmental and connected. Therapy is a journey into yourself. It is choosing to step forward into growth rather than shy back into what is safe and comfortable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. This process of self-discovery isn’t easy, but certainly worth it! My approach to counseling is that of being direct, honest, and straightforward. I work hard to balance that with care, compassion, and empathy. I will push you, but not past your limits. At times it may feel as if I am pushing you past your limits but that is because often times we aren’t able to see our true potential.

My mission is to foster healing, growth, and a strong sense of self in each of my clients. I am dedicated to creating a therapeutic space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to thrive. My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic. I pull techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help build coping strategies and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to enhance mindfulness and emotion regulation. And, as a former Registered Behavior Technician, I use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach behavior modification strategies. I am a music lover, avid reader, and proud member of the Atlanta Jewish community. I am a “lifelong” camper, attending overnight summer camp as both a camper and staff member for over ten years. Before pursuing my Masters in Social Work at UGA, I worked as a fourth grade teaching assistant and a behavioral therapist for children with severe autism.
Emily Sands Psychotherapy, LLC
I'm Emily, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the Atlanta area. I view therapy as a combination of deep introspection along with more immediate, concrete change. In our work together, we will explore underlying themes, patterns, and narratives, and we will also focus on more immediate skill-building and behavioral change. I lean heavily on General Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems and other modalities to support you in deeper exploration. Whereas I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Solution-Focused Therapy to assist you in creating more concrete, immediate changes. I work best with clients who are engaged and motivated to learn about themselves; therapy should feel like a conversation. It is my ultimate belief that my clients are the experts of their own lives, and many of my clients would describe my style as down-to-earth, direct, and non-judgmental.

Everyone can benefit from therapy regardless of how big or small a problem feels: both sprained and broken ankles can benefit from crutches! Whether you have faced a life-altering event, or have worries about the future, I will guide and support you along the journey. Taking the first steps to begin therapy can be intimidating, but is an important move to make to become your best self. My approach balances the emotional processing necessary to generate insights with the practical components of skill building to truly give you all the benefits therapy can provide. I use a flexible integrative model to generate individualized treatment since no two people or problems are the same. I believe therapy is most effective when we collaborate to improve your quality of life. I'm excited to begin the process of achieving your personal goals! Currently supervised by Tara Towler-Cumby, MA, LPC, CPCS.
