Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC
Accepting clients Last Updated 19 days ago

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience. I have a MS in Counseling from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and a BA in Psychology from Schreiner University (Kerrville, TX). During my career, I have worked with individuals with severe mental illness in psychiatric hospitals as well as individuals recovering from various traumas. I have worked with individuals and their families at all ages and all stages of their lives. I believe to help each client find their truth starts with letting the client share their story without any judgement. I understand that the client is the expert in their own life but sometimes they need help when unwanted thoughts, symptoms or behaviors start. Reaching out for help can be difficult for all kinds of reasons. I want to remind you “we don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to” (Brené Brown). I put the needs of the client first, and together we will figure out what therapeutic style will best work for the symptoms or issues that the client is wanting to work on. I realize the world has changed and anxieties have increased. I want to help the young adults work on themselves to become the best versions of themselves. Loneliness, social anxiety, and just being in a constantly changing world can make anyone feel out of control. I want to help give you back that feeling of being in control of your life. I use different modalities (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Grief Therapy, and Holistic Therapy) as part of the process of helping the client find their truth and strengths as they work through the reasons they have come to counseling. I hope to offer new ideas to clients experiencing anxiety and depression. I specialize in grief, trauma, chronic health conditions (diabetes), and chronic autoimmune diseases (fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic migraines, etc.). I make sure that I take time for self-care. Taking the time for self-care and mindfulness is a process I am enjoying as I learn about being creative (drawing, coloring) and exploring nature. I try to use what I am learning about my journey for taking time for self-care to my clients since so many are not taking the time for themselves. Brené Brown states “it takes courage to say yes to rest and play, in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol”. Helping clients with mindfulness, self-care and learning stress management is something I emphasize with my clients. I want clients to find their strengths in a non-judgmental environment where they can share their story any way they need to. I am ready to listen and help walk your journey with you.
