As a psychotherapist, my role is to help patients understand the trouble in their lives and make significant changes. I believe it takes time to get to know the nuances of one's story. My approach is both collaborative and challenging. Therapy can involve helping people look at parts of themselves that are painful, or hard to see clearly. Some people find short-term therapy is enough for ameliorating current troubles, while many engage in long-term intensive therapy to uncover the roots of their suffering, gain clarity, and regain momentum. I believe all people have the inherent capacity for growth, and those who engage in therapy, often find that old ways of feeling and being can change, and new pathways can emerge.
I have specialized training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which is a form of treatment that aims to fully resolve the underlying causes of one's distress. In addition to my private practice, I completed my post-graduate training at Mass General/Harvard Medical School, where I am a staff psychotherapist.
I can provide you with paperwork for reimbursement from your insurance company if you are seeking out-of-network sessions.
